Learnings

By Avadhut Das

New Learning for the New Year!

On the 1st of January 2009, in our Graduate Meeting, as we were in deep meditation and going thru our individual 2008 for making a note of our learnings, many of us found that we were finding it difficult to recollect our learnings! Those who could not recollect any learnings or only a few learnings might have thought, "I have spent an entire year, what have I learnt? Nothing??"

To make sure that this does not repeat in future, this is the suggestion we found:

  1. Purchase a new notebook. Let it be a costly very good looking notebook. It should physically look like something worth possessing.

  2. On a daily basis - every evening, write down, the answer to: "What is it that I have learnt today in my life?". Then, go to level and re-experience that learning and observe yourself successfully applying that learning in a future situation. Observe the result of that application. Become satisfied and further convinced about this nice lesson learnt.

(NB: If we don't register a learning in our inner-conscious mind, if we don't remember a learning, then how at all was it a "learning"!?!)

  3. If you miss a day, recollect the previous day's learning and do the above exercise of writing/recording it in your special notebook and inner-conscious mind.

  4. At the end of a week (on any selected day of a week), write down a special instruction to yourself about the combined/summarized learning of the week and do a mental-rehearsal of the imaginary application of the same.

If you wish you may use a different (but standard) special color of page or ink for this purpose, so that later while browsing it is easier to pin-point the weekly learnings.

  5. At the end of each month, on a separate page in a particular different color write down your monthly learning.

Add/draw/paste in some pictures/cutouts to illustrate your point to yourself. This will be also help to retain a mental picture/ pictorial reference of your monthly learning summary.

Once-in-a-while keep browsing through your "learnigns" notebook to ensure that you are indeed applying the lessons you have learnt from your life's experiences in your actual practical current life, thus making your life better and better!!

Best wishes!

Wishing you better and better success!
